Requirements / Qualifications

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the job of Social Studies Teacher is done for the purpose(s) of providing a variety of individual and group instruction to students enrolled in the Leadership Military Academy to ensure appropriate instruction as determined by California State Standards. The incumbent is responsible for developing and employing strategies to build honor, pride, self-discipline, and leadership in at-risk youth through positive behavior management. Please see the job description for a list of job functions and minimum qualifications. The following documents are required upon hire: Valid CA Driver's License, Fingerprint Clearance, TB Clearance, Bachelor's Degree. EXPERIENCE: - NCLB compliant at the secondary level in Social Science or the ability to become compliant within one year of employment - Successful military service is preferred EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university is required. Master’s degree desired. CERTIFICATES/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES: - A valid California single subject credential with a Social Science authorization - California Education Specialist Mild Moderate Credential or valid California Learning Handicapped (preferred) - EL certification such as CLAD, BCLAD, or SDAIE.
