Alternate Media and Assistive Technology Specialist Under the general supervision of the Dean of Student Services, the Alternate Media and Assistive Technology Specialist will provide a variety of services and technical duties related to the production, delivery, and end-user training of alternate media and assistive technology for student with disabilities. Education and Experience: An associate degree from a recognized college or university and two years of experience in alternate media production, access technologies, electronic text production, or closely related experience. Knowledge of: computers and software programs; record keeping and filing techniques; oral and written skills; customer service skills. Knowledge of ADA, Section 504, Section 508, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) implementation and compliance preferred. Ability to: use a variety of computer software programs; learn to use programs and equipment to translate media into alternative formats; learn new technology to assist students with disabilities;; learn specialized skills and knowledge required in the program; learn to interpret and apply District, state and federal rules, policies and laws; plan and organize work; meet timelines and schedules; understand and follow oral and written direction; demonstrate sensitivity to at risk students or students with special needs.
