Under the supervision of the District Speech Pathologist, work with classroom teachers to support instruction in any assigned curricular/activity area; assist students in small or large group situations as directed; maintain accurate program records; confer with credentialed staff regarding student progress; attend and participate in in-service programs; operate office machines, if necessary; assist with student supervision; and perform other assigned duties relating to student instruction and/or materials.
Requirements / Qualifications
For those applicants who do not have 48-semester units of college or an AA, you will be required to pass the ParaProfessional tests imposed by the No Child Left Behind legislation.
All candidates must attach a copy of their High School diploma or GED to the application and must meet one of these requirements #1-#3 AND MEET requirements #4-#6: 1. Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (or obtained 48-semester units or 72 quarter units), or 2. Obtained an Associate’s (or higher) degree, or 3. Pass the Reading, Math, and Ability-to-Assist test provided by the District with a score of 70% or better on all three exams. Qualified applicants will be contacted for the exam date. No walk-ins will be allowed. 4. Two (2) years of work experience with junior high school-aged students 5. Valid CA driver’s license, valid automobile insurance, and clean DMV record 6. First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency, desired
- Certificate Copy (Applicable if you have obtained an AA degree or higher) OR Copy of Transcript (Applicable if you have 48 or more college/university semester units) OR Paraprofessional Testing (Will accept passing from other school districts. Please attach copy of certificate.)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (Copy of first aid and CPR Certificate by an authorized agency)
- Driver's License Copy
- Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three (3) signed professional letters of recommendation dated within the last two (2) years)
- Other (Instructional Assistant - Speech Therapy class, if available.)
- Proof of HS Graduation (Copy of High School Diploma or GED)
