Requirements / Qualifications

BASIC FUNCTION: Library Media Assistant I Perform a variety of functions in support of an elementary or middle school library or resources center involved with the selection, acquisition, circulation, maintenance and distribution of books and instructional materials; assist students and teachers using library/media resources. Library Media Assistant II Perform library functions at a high school, including organization, distribution and storage of library and media materials; check books, textbooks and materials in and out at the circulation desk; process and shelve library materials and textbooks; assist students and staff in the selection of library materials; train and provide work direction to student helpers and parent volunteers. Work available in:

  • Multiple locations (Elementary, Middle and High School)
  • Varying hours per day: 5, 6 or 8
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Library Media Assistant I Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or equivalent and responsible clerical or instructional experience working with children in an organized setting, including some experience in a library or media center environment. Library Media Assistant II Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or equivalent and increasingly responsible experience in a library or media center environment.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: The following MUST BE ATTACHED to the application:

  • High School Diploma OR Equivalent AND Proficiency Exam Certificate (Basic Skills Assessment Test)
  • OR
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree or Higher Education Degree
  • The Proficiency Exam (Basic Skills Assessment Test) is administered by Lodi Unified School District. Interested candidates need to RSVP by calling (209) 331-7607. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS / CERTIFICATES: If selected for the position, out-of-district applicants must be T.B. tested and fingerprinted. A practical skills test may be administered at the time of interview.
