Job Summary
Job Summary
This position will be assigned to the Special Education Department: Under the daily direction of a certificated Special Education Teacher experienced in Autism, PDD, and other severe neurological disorders, and the general supervision of the Special Education Sr. Director or designee, administers tutoring and support services to students in a classroom setting in acquiring learning, behavior and social skills. Goals are established by the collaborative educational team and the student’s individualized educational plans (IEP/IFSP). This class is distinguished from other classes in the Instructional family by being assigned to work with students in the SCCOE collaborative partnership for students with autism. Instructional Aide, Special Education: Under general supervision, to assist certificated teacher in the instruction, supervision and/or care of assigned students in the Special Education program; to maintain a safe and effective learning environment; and to perform a variety of instructional and clerical functions in support of assigned classroom activities and programs.
Requirements / Qualifications
The Santa Cruz COE is looking for classified Instructional Aides for its Extended School Year (ESY) with the Special Education Department. ESY runs June 14 through July 12 with June 20 and July 4 being unpaid holidays. Education and Experience: Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in child development, education or a related field is desirable. Some experience in working with special education students is desirable. License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR and first aid certificates. Some experience working with special education students and/or children with Autism, PDD or other neurological disorders is desirable.
