Using both the Spanish and English languages fluently, assist teachers by providing instructional assistance to individuals and small groups in reviewing and reinforcing previously introduced skills; read to students; explain work assignments; coordinate and assist students in learning groups and centers; and assist students in the selection of books and resource materials; may follow teacher’s lesson plans and assist teachers in preparation of plans or develop own plans based on teacher’s direction and explanation of students’ academic needs; assist in the screening and assessment of students’ progress and development; Organize and classify resource materials; assist teacher in preparing a variety of learning materials; prepare and maintain bulletin boards, interest centers, educational displays and teaching devices; Operate audio-visual equipment such as video tape decks, motion pictures, film strips, overhead projectors; collect equipment and inventory; may operate or learn to operate electronic teaching machines and computer terminals; maintain compact discs , records, cassettes, and other instructional materials; Perform a variety of routine clerical and record keeping activities such as taking roll, filling out forms and applications, correcting papers; filing and recording test scores, grades, and other data in student records; may assist in administering, proctoring, and scoring tests and charting student progress; may check out, order, process, and maintain books and various reference materials in a library or resource room; prepare materials for parent meetings; Operate office equipment, such as typewriter and copier in the preparation of instructional materials, bulletins, rosters, or other materials; maintain records and files; Straighten or organize classroom or other learning facility; may accompany students on field trips; may attend in-service training sessions, back-to-school nights and other school activities. Respect confidential nature of pupil records and school reports; assist in maintaining student contacts, observe and report to teacher unusual or atypical behavior or other problems; may attend parent conferences; assist teacher in maintaining discipline and monitor classroom, playground, or other areas; may administer first aid in the absence of the teacher or school nurse; may change diapers when necessary.

The Baldwin Park Unified School District is recruiting for a Family Services Facilitator in the Early Childhood Education, Baldwin Park Center. Under the general supervision of the Head Specialist, the employee will participate in the coordination of services for Head Start and State Preschool families to make home visits as needed. The employee will assist in providing special activities and programs for Head Start/State Preschool Families. The employee will also perform clerical and paraprofessional work, as well as do related work as may be required. For a full description of the classification, please review the job description. The selection process tentatively consists of the District application review, proficiency exam, and interviews. The Human Resources Department will contact all applicants once the selection process has been finalized. IMPORTANT DATES: The application screening will be conducted on May 31, 2021. Emails will be sent to all applicants and only qualified applicants will be given the exam and interview information. Tentative Interview Date: TBD MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, and successful completion of the District instructional aide exam. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Incumbents are required to furnish a car and be willing to drive in the performance of duties. Must successfully pass the District bilingual proficiency examination. Exam Date: TBD - only qualified applicants will be considered for the exams REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES Possession of valid and appropriate California Driver's License; have an acceptable driving record and adequate insurance coverage. Preferences: • One (1) to two (2) years of experience with the Head Start State Preschool Program as a parent, volunteer, or employee.
