About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic professional to serve as Director, Student Services for the ACCESS program. This individual will manage, participate and provide administrative direction in the development and implementation of goals, policies and priorities, and strategic planning for programs offering educational support to delinquent and/or at-risk youth and adult jail inmates. Responsibilities include directing, evaluating and training staff in work activities in addition to collaborating on goal development. This position will also develop and monitoring the program budget. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of laws and regulations pertinent to Juvenile Court School and Alternative Education programs in order to assure compliance with applicable federal and state guidelines and polices.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in education, education administration, behavioral management, special education and/or a related field • Six years of increasingly responsible education experience involving work with special education, delinquent, and/or at risk students, including three years of administrative and supervisory experience. Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • Valid California Credential authorizing instruction or service in a public school program. • Valid California Administrative Services Credential
