Requirements / Qualifications
TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree from an approved institution is required. Advanced degrees are preferred. A minimum of five years of certificated experience in public or private schools is required, and preference will be given for additional elementary school teaching experience, administrative, or supervisorial experience at the elementary level. Preference given to bilingual speakers, and expertise in vital programs within individual schools including, but not limited to, STEAM, Montessori, Dual Immersion, Waldorf, etc. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Hold a valid Administrative Services Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is required.

Sacramento City Unified seeks a dynamic principal to lead Peter Burnett Elementary for the 2022-2023 academic school year and beyond.
Peter Burnett Elementary’s mission is to provide a caring and safe community where high expectations for students and staff are clearly outlined and modeled. Peter Burnett is also a place where all students, staff, parents and community partners collaborate and work together, in order to establish a culture of excellence and success for every member of its community. Students are provided with additional support and academic intervention at all grade levels and are also challenged to maximize their potential with programs like GATE and Visual and Performing Arts. Finally, Peter Burnett is a place where everyone is respected, accepted and where accomplishments are continuously celebrated through regular awards ceremonies.
Peter Burnett’s student body reflects the rich diversity and culture of its location in Sacramento County: 56% of its students are Hispanic/Latino, 22% Asian or Asian/Pacific Islander, 10% African American, and 7% White and about 5% are two or more races. Additionally, 84% of students are from socioeconomic disadvantaged households, 37% are English Learners, and 14% receive Special Education Services.
Peter Burnett’s new principal will need to continue the work of supporting and addressing low student performance across several student groups.
