
Hourly Teacher - Migrant Education Program at San Luis Obispo County Office of Education
Job Summary
Job Summary
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the teacher provides directed learning experiences in academic skills, social skills, living skills, job skills and career planning for general and special education students attending the Migrant Education Program. Oversees pre and post assessments and other local benchmark assessments. Directs support staff and volunteers in the classroom. Assists and works as a team staff assigned to the program. Participates in the implementation of IEPs and Section 504 Plans. Perform general supervision tasks during student meals, breaks, and before and after class. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
Required: 1. A valid California teaching credential authorizing services to students in general education or a valid California teaching credential authorizing services to students with mild/moderate disabilities. 2. English Learner (EL) or Cross-cultural Language, and Academic Development (CLAD) certification or willingness to apply for Emergency CLAD and obtain certification within CTC timelines. Knowledge and experience in design and implementation of behavior modification techniques. 3. A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 4. A valid California driver’s license. Desirable: 1. Experience teaching in a migrant education program. 2. Knowledge of language development. 3. Knowledge of basic academic development. 4. Established pattern of professional growth. 5. Knowledge and experience in design and implementation of behavior modification techniques.

These teachers may work during after-school hours, weekday evenings, Saturdays and summer school programs. Positions may be virtual or in-person at various school sites throughout the Migrant Education Program Region 18 in San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County.
English/Spanish bilingual skills highly desired.
