Job Summary
The Newcomer Counselor works collaboratively with immigrant newcomer students and their families, teachers, administrators and other staff to provide enhanced and supplemental opportunities to immigrant children and youth, ensuring that immigrant students meet the same challenging grade level and graduation standards as all students. The Newcomer Counselor will activate individualized supports for immigrant students so that they may achieve a high academic level and become college and career-ready. The Newcomer Counselor performs duties and responsibilities which guide immigrant students, staff, parents, and administration in newcomer matters.

Valid CA Pupil Personnel Services Credential Letter of Introduction Current Resume Three Letters of Recommendation Bilingual required

work, marriage and family counseling and/or any other degree related to counseling services, bilingual
This position includes a 3.66% stipend based on step 1 column 1 of the counselor & Athletic/Activities Director Salary Schedule if the employee passes a district administered bilingual exam for both written and oral skills.
