The Position Title: Counselor (Academic Success Counselor) Position type: Full time Requisition No: 22042 Category: Faculty Supervisor: Dean of Student Success Last Updated: March 2022 Job Purpose: Provide academic counseling services to Calbright students including learning habits, time management, and life coaching. Location: ? Remote, various locations throughout California Position Overview The Counselor (Academic Success Counselor) provides equity-minded life coaching to help students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course competencies. The Counselor (Academic Success Counselor) will assist students with individualized success strategies, including goal setting, time management, study skills, etc. The Counselor will also identify resources for students and make referrals to student support services. All Academic Success Counselors are expected to participate in unit meetings and professional development activities, as well as participate in college-wide activities and participatory governance committees. Reporting to the Dean of Student Success and working in collaboration with the other success and learning team members, the Counselor (Academic Success Counselor) plays a vital role in helping Calbright College achieve its mission to build and deliver lasting and equitable solutions that make California a leader in workforce planning, preparation, and placement through regular meetings with students throughout their journey.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Requirements Masters in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent. (NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.) OR, Possession of a California Community College Counselor Credential (valid for life); OR, Equivalent (determined through the Calbright College equivalency process); All candidates not holding the stated minimum degree qualifications, who are seeking consideration on the basis of equivalency, are required to submit a completed Equivalency Determination Request Form and must provide the supporting information and documentation.
