POSITION DESCRIPTION: 15-20 HOURS PER WEEK Under the direction of the Leadership Team (LT) and in collaboration with Darnall Charter’s back office provider (BOP), the Chief Business Officer (CBO) will plan, organize and direct the School’s finances. Essential functions include budget development and control of school funds; ongoing budget analysis, monitoring, and reporting of categorical programs and special projects, including grants, and entitlements; performing professional accounting budgeting and financial functions on all School accounts and categorical programs; preparation and filing of required local, State and federal fiscal reports; and performs other duties as assigned. BASIC FUNCTIONS (in collaboration with back office service provider) In collaboration with LT, plan, organize, and supervise the school's financial and accounting programs, including budget development and control; payroll preparation and accounting; fiscal reporting and disbursement of funds; and other fiscal functions and activities including specialized administration, such as school construction and charter school funding. In collaboration with LT, prepare the school budget; develop a budget calendar; and evaluate the financial needs of the school. In collaboration with LT, assist with the development of local educational plans, monitor the fiscal allocations, and submit in a timely manner. Develop and maintain budget projections and projections of income and expenditures by programs. In collaboration with BOP, review reconciliations of all general ledger accounts for accuracy, including all balance sheet and income statement accounts In collaboration with BOP, prepare year end financial data for annual audit, prepare audit schedules and act as liaison with external auditors. Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to graduation from a recognized four-year college or university with a major in finance, accounting, or closely related field and four years of full-time, progressively responsible accounting experience using computer-based accounting applications and systems; experience in information systems is desirable but not required.
