The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) serves our county’s most vulnerable students, and supports school leaders, teachers, and students across the county. We support nearly 780 schools and more than 500,000 students, including the 2,020 children we educate each year through our Juvenile Court and Community Schools. SDCOE provides a variety of services for the 42 school districts, 131 charter schools, and five community college districts in the county. SDCOE is recruiting to fill one (1) full-time vacancy in the role of Vice Principal, Monarch School. The job of Vice Principal, Monarch School is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for performing a variety of administrative duties to assist the Principal in managing Monarch School, special education programs and services; providing information and serving as a resource to others; supervising assigned staff; coordinating school activities and addressing issues, situations and/or problems that arise on campus or with enrolled students. The Vice Principal, Monarch School will help foster a safe and culturally responsive learning environment for a student population that is comprised mostly of historically underrepresented students and communities. Monarch School has served as a place of hope and belonging to thousands of unhoused students since 1987. Our unique and innovative Kindergarten through 12th grade school provides students with the stability and security they need to heal and learn. Nearly 300 students attend Monarch School each day and are provided a holistic education designed to meet their academic, social, emotional, and life skill needs. Monarch School is a trauma-informed and strength-based community where students can persevere through the trauma of homelessness that has affected them and their success in education.
Requirements / Qualifications
This position requires possession of a valid Administrative Services Credential and valid Teaching Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing; and a California driver license & evidence of insurability. *Note: Valid California credentials are a requirement at time of hire. If you do not possess the required California credentials, you may go to the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing website https://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/out-of-state-app for details on meeting California’s requirements. Equivalency: A combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of effective teaching experience that includes both instructional and leadership experience. Experience conducting IEP Meetings. Experience with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Positive Behavioral Interventions (PBIS), and trauma informed care is required. Experience working with English Language Development (ELD) students required.
