Requirements / Qualifications
POSITION: Under direction and supervision of the Executive Director Human Resources, performs advanced, specialized work in the Human Resources Department. Performs high-level, advanced clerical support requiring initiative and independent judgment and analysis in accordance with established procedures. Plan, organize and performs related work as required. REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must possess the knowledge and skill required for successful job performance as follows: Training and Experience: A combination of training and experience equivalent to increasingly responsible experience in performing high-level clerical, human resources or office management duties and in all aspects of office procedures involving familiarity with data processing procedures, including progressively responsible office duties. Knowledge of: • Office management, human resources office functions, practices and procedures • English grammar, punctuation and spelling • Policies, laws and regulative procedures • District organization and operations • Computer operation and related software use Skill in: • Working independently • Handling confidential material with discretion • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy Ability to: • Operate a computer and related software • Deal tactfully and courteously with the public as well as communicate effectively with others • Learn and understand computerized personnel/payroll system • Learn to interpret and apply rules, policies, procedures and regulations • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others • Meet requirements to become a certified fingerprint roller Licenses and Certificates: • Valid California driver’s license ------------------------------------------
SELECTION PROCEDURE: All applicants are required to take and pass the written examination scheduled below. Areas covered on the examination are proofreading, English usage, interpersonal relations, situational exercise, composition of a WORD memo or letter, revolving ledger, Excel and timed typing. Typing certificate for 45 net wpm, within the past six months, will be accepted or applicants may take timed typing test at exam (online typing certificates will not be accepted). If submitting a certificate, it must be submitted with application, by final filing date. Computers will be used for typing exercises. Calculators may be used on the examination but will not be provided. NOTICE: Following successful testing, a competitive screening process will be used to determine who will be invited to the interview portion of the examination. The following will be taken into consideration as part of the screening process: SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE, test results, application, resume, and letters of recommendation.
