Requirements / Qualifications

THE POSITION: The job of Accounting Technician is done for the purpose/s of providing support to department activities with specific responsibility for the processing, recording, updating and reconciling fiscal information for school districts; providing instructions, recommendations and/or accounting support to other personnel; and analyzing expenditures against budget. This job reports to Assigned Administrator. LOCATION: 313 W. Winton Ave. Hayward, CA 94544 TYPICAL DUTIES: Assists auditors for the purpose of providing supporting documentation and/or information on internal process that is required for audit. Assists school district and other staff regarding procedures and/or program requirements (e.g. calculating income formulas, expenditure reports, special projects, invoicing, etc.) for the purpose of providing support for completing transactions, identifying appropriate action and/or complying with established financial procedures. Audits, reviews and verifies requisitions and warrants for the purpose of ensuring legality and proper authorization according to mandated policies and regulations. Compiles a variety of financial information related to work assignments for the purpose of providing required documentation, processing information and meeting legally mandated requirements. Facilitates a variety of trainings (e.g. in-service, workshops, individually, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring uniform understanding of accounting processes, codes, regulations and requirements. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired. Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.
