Job Summary
This position possesses all competencies required to meet the special education needs of students, staff, and parents at the assigned site. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Plans and prepares lessons and instructional materials to met individuals needs of students. Those include physical, emotional, and educational levels of development. * Teacher follows local, state, and federal requirements in implementing programs. * Confers with parents, administrators, general education teachers, testing specialists, appropriate agencies, and others to develop individual Educational Program and Individual Transitional Plans for students as required. * Instructs students in academic subjects, life skills, self-help skills, and vocational skills as needed. * Complete Special Education case management duties including conducting initial and triennial academic evaluations, scheduling and completing paperwork for all required IEP meetings. * Maintains communication with parents regarding the students educational program. * Implements inclusion and community based activities as appropriate for each student. * Collaborates as appropriate with other staff. * Participates in Student Study Team and other committees or site activities, as appropriate. * Maintains confidentiality regarding student files or other relevant material. * Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * Supervision of instructional aides. QUALIFIEATIONS Education * Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. * Possess or be eligible to possess a valid credential authorizing the teaching of disabled children or participate in CTC approved intern program. * Must have passed CBEST

Surprise Valley Joint Unified School District is a small, rural school district located in a beautiful ranching valley in Northern California's Modoc County. While located within California, the District boarders the state of Nevada and Oregon. The District is comprised of four towns including Cedarville, Eagleville, Lake City, and Fort Bidwell. Total population is approximately 1,100 people with 95 students in grades K-12. There is excellent community support for the school and academic excellence is primary. Living costs are low compared to other areas in California.
