Job Summary

This position possesses all competencies required to meet the special education needs of students, staff, and parents at the assigned site. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Plans and prepares lessons and instructional materials to met individuals needs of students. Those include physical, emotional, and educational levels of development. * Teacher follows local, state, and federal requirements in implementing programs. * Confers with parents, administrators, general education teachers, testing specialists, appropriate agencies, and others to develop individual Educational Program and Individual Transitional Plans for students as required. * Instructs students in academic subjects, life skills, self-help skills, and vocational skills as needed. * Complete Special Education case management duties including conducting initial and triennial academic evaluations, scheduling and completing paperwork for all required IEP meetings. * Maintains communication with parents regarding the students educational program. * Implements inclusion and community based activities as appropriate for each student. * Collaborates as appropriate with other staff. * Participates in Student Study Team and other committees or site activities, as appropriate. * Maintains confidentiality regarding student files or other relevant material. * Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * Supervision of instructional aides. QUALIFIEATIONS Education * Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. * Possess or be eligible to possess a valid credential authorizing the teaching of disabled children or participate in CTC approved intern program. * Must have passed CBEST
