Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Valid California Pupil Personnel Services credential authorizing service as a School Counselor • MA degree in a mental health related field (e.g. LCSW, MFT, Clinical Psych) along with appropriate licensure. • A minimum of three years’ work experience in mental health services in an educational environment (school district, county office of education, SELPA) DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: • Past experience with providing academic and/or mental health counseling services and support to secondary students. • Familiarity with SEIS and Aeries

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Assumes academic counseling responsibilities to help students meet their educational and personal goals and needs. In addition, will provide DIS/ERMHS counseling services to students with IEPs. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: • Collaborate with multiple programs on/off-site to support students at WHS/AEC • Develop, implement and manage school guidance program. • Assist students with creating an academic plan for their education. • Help students plan for a post-secondary career. • Plan, organize and conduct a counseling program for children and their families; • Create social emotional and behavior goals for IEPs to support student progress; • Maintain counseling progress data • Consult with staff regarding therapeutic techniques applicable in the classroom setting; • Collaborate with parents, staff, and community agencies; • Communicate effectively in oral and written forms; • Prepare reports and keep case records; • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; • Develop and coordinate dual enrollment program.
