About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Basic Function: Under the direction of the Superintendent, plan, organize, control and direct the operations and activities of the Human Resources division including recruitment, selection, compensation, employee record-keeping, employee health and welfare programs, workers’ compensation, collective bargaining negotiation, policy development, contract administration, credentialing, employee evaluation and labor relations functions; coordinate and direct communications, information and personnel to assure smooth and efficient Division activities and meet the human resources needs of the District; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

Knowledge of: Planning, organization and direction of Human Resources operations and activities including recruitment, selection, compensation, employee record-keeping, collective bargaining negotiation, policy development, contract administration, credentialing, employee evaluation and labor relations; Principles, techniques, procedures and terminology involved in the recruitment, selection, and compensation of classified and certificated employees; State and federal standards and requirements concerning personnel administration including equal employment opportunity, affirmative action and the Education Code; Principles, techniques, guidelines and strategies of labor relations and collective bargaining; Bargaining unit contracts, contract negotiation, employee benefit packages and salary schedules; Operations, policies and objectives relating to human resources activities.
