About the Employer
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
The North Orange County SELPA and member local education agencies(LEAs) foster coordination between general and special education for prevention and early intervention of suspected disabilities. The SELPA(Special Education Local Plan Area), also ensures appropriate education services for individuals with disabilities by working cooperatively with other public and private agencies to support a full complement of special education services for students. The Orange County Department of Education is the Administrative Unit for the North Orange County SELPA. The North Orange County SELPA is recruiting for a dynamic professional to serve as our DIRECTOR This individual will support the OCDE value sand mission statement by directing, managing, supervising and coordinating the programs and activities of the SELPA. They will coordinate assigned activities with other units, divisions and outside agencies and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to higher level management staff.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education including specialized training in educational administration and special education. • Six years of increasingly responsible special education experience including three years of administrative and supervisory experience. Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • Valid California Credential authorizing instruction or service in a public school program. • Valid California Administrative Services Credential (must complete within 5 years of hire).
