Job Summary
DBHS seeks an inspiring Korean teacher who develops students to be competent language and cultural learners. We seek an educator who is literate and fluent in Korean. The candidate must have experience teaching Korean to high-performing students. A Master’s degree in Korean is preferred but not necessary. • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in education or Korean, a teaching credential, and experience teaching Korean to high performing students. An advanced degree is preferred but not required. • The candidate must have advanced Korean grammar skills, spelling skills, and speaking skills, and must be able to teach about Korean language literature, culture, and history. • The candidate must have experience and training in TPRS, be able to implement and utilize Google Classroom, have excellent time management and organizational skills, and be a problem solver. • The candidate must incorporate 21st Century learning strategies in every lesson and promote collaborative teamwork in the classroom by exemplifying and teaching students to communicate effectively. • The candidate must have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all constituents in English and in Korean. • The candidate must be compassionate, patient, observant, a team player, detailed-oriented and think outside the box. • The candidate must be able to collaborate well with colleagues of diverse backgrounds on pedagogical approach, curricular alignment, and instructional strategies. • The candidate must invest in the life of the school by participating in school activities such as student clubs and social and emotional learning, PLCs, and staff meetings.
Requirements / Qualifications
A California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Korean/Mandarin with English Learner authorization is required. If you are still working on your credential classes and will be done before August 1, 2022, you can still be considered for the position as long as you submit a letter from your university that explains where you are in your program and what credential you will be getting.
