Job Summary
The job of Early Intervention Assistant is done for the purpose/s of supporting the educational process by providing emotional support and social skills development to elementary age (K-3rd grade) children who are at risk in terms of behavior, educational performance, and social competence; providing support to the instructional program outside the regular classroom; implementing programs for the personal and emotional growth of the referred students; assisting in the monitoring of behavior plans; and communicating observations to teachers, parents and administrators.

SELECTION PROCESS: All applications will be screened to ensure application is complete and applicant meets minimum qualifications. The process will include a written exam for all qualified applicants. Those candidates achieving a passing score on the online exam will be invited to the oral exam. Passing score is 70% on each exam. An eligibility list will be established and the top three ranks of candidates from the list will receive a departmental interview. All examinations are based on the job description for the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Six months experience working with children in an organized setting, with supervision provided, has been found to be a minimum requirement for successful job performance. Relevant experience, education, certificates and/or licenses may be substituted.
