MAINTENANCE WORKER I
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, perform unskilled and semi_skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of structures, facilities and equipment.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Assist in general electrical, plumbing, carpentry and maintenance work on school plants, equipment and furnishings. E
Perform unskilled and semi_skilled work in projects involving holding, lifting, positioning and supporting materials and equipment and use of hand tools. E
Prepare surfaces for painting and perform routine maintenance painting. E
Perform pipe fitting, concrete work and roof repairs. E
Drive truck and use applicable power tools and equipment to perform semi_skilled tasks; operate backhoe and skip loader, air lifts, motorized post hole digger as needed. E
Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Operation and maintenance of equipment, hand and power tools.
Safety regulations.
ABILITY TO:
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Work cooperatively with others.
Lift moderately heavy objects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to sufficient education and experience to perform the knowledge and abilities listed above.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver's license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor and outdoor work environment.
Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
Seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate assigned maintenance tools and equipment.
Climbing ladders and working from heights.
Walking over rough or uneven surfaces.
Lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects, normally not exceeding sixty (60) pounds but occasionally up to one hundred (100) pounds.
Heavy physical labor.
Seeing to perform maintenance activities, read materials, and drive a vehicle.
Standing for extended periods of time.
Perform the essential functions of the job.
HAZARDS:
Fumes from paints and solvents.
Working around and with machinery having moving parts.
Working at heights.
