MATH, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY SPECIALIST
DEPARTMENT: Elementary School REPORTS TO: Principal
APPROVED: SALARY SCHEDULE: Certificated Teachers
BASIC FUNCTION:
The teacher must be committed to raising student achievement through the integration of a rigorous course of study with effective use of technology. The curriculum will focus on math and sciences. The teacher will continue to develop the curriculum as it relates to the Academy program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Normal responsibilities of a classroom teacher. E
Continued development of the Academy Curriculum. E
Participates in ongoing professional development to support use of new technologies, best practices in the classroom and curriculum development. E
Assists in the promotion of the academy program to the community. E
Develops and maintains professional and ongoing communication with parents, students, and staff. E
Assesses students’ technology skills using Ed Tech Profile. E
Develops and implements summative and formative assessment of the program. E
Provides a “demonstration classroom” where teachers, administrators, and community members can observe. E
Be dedicated to the growth and success of each student. E
Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills. E
Other duties as assigned

ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS:
California Teaching Credential
Bachelors Degree
Desirable: Master’s Degree in Educational Technology or related field
Two or more years implementing or supervising educational technology programs.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Planning, organization and implementation of educational technology

Computer hardware and programs such as; Microsoft Office, video editing programs, School Loop,
Interactive Whiteboards, Student Response Systems, document cameras, digital microscopes and cameras

ABILITY TO:
Create and enhance a classroom culture of high expectations, achievement and respect.
Actively learn and grow as a teacher
Establish a classroom culture where each child is challenged, valued and guided towards success.
Be able to collaborate with other teachers in developing the program
Be self motivated
Be able to create a collaborative student learning environment
Learn and use technology tools with problem solving and critical thinking in mind
Use web-based instructional materials effectively
Understand how technology can be used to communicate

The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed materials, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
