MILPITAS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT MATH, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY SPECIALIST DEPARTMENT: Elementary School REPORTS TO: Principal APPROVED: SALARY SCHEDULE: Certificated Teachers BASIC FUNCTION: The teacher must be committed to raising student achievement through the integration of a rigorous course of study with effective use of technology. The curriculum will focus on math and sciences. The teacher will continue to develop the curriculum as it relates to the Academy program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Normal responsibilities of a classroom teacher. E Continued development of the Academy Curriculum. E Participates in ongoing professional development to support use of new technologies, best practices in the classroom and curriculum development. E Assists in the promotion of the academy program to the community. E Develops and maintains professional and ongoing communication with parents, students, and staff. E Assesses students’ technology skills using Ed Tech Profile. E Develops and implements summative and formative assessment of the program. E Provides a “demonstration classroom” where teachers, administrators, and community members can observe. E Be dedicated to the growth and success of each student. E Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills. ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS: California Teaching Credential Bachelors Degree Desirable: Master’s Degree in Educational Technology or related field Two or more years implementing or supervising educational technology programs.
