Requirements / Qualifications

Candidate will provide occupational therapy services to special needs students exhibiting learning disabilities, development delays, behavior disorders, perceptual motor/visual motor difficulties, gross and fine motor delays, or any other associated disorder interfering with a student’s ability to benefit from his/her educational program. Therapy may be provided on a direct, consultative or monitoring basis. Qualifications: Candidate must possess a certificate of registration with the National Registry of the American Occupational Therapy Association, and have a minimum of two years experience in pediatrics. Some experience within an educational based setting is preferred. A candidate with a strong background in sensory integration theory and application in the treatment of autism, PDD and associated regulatory disorders is needed. SCSIPT Certification is preferred. Candidate must have an understanding of developmental foundations and neurodevelopment implication as related to learning/behaviors and educational success. A candidate that has a clear understanding of the difference between an educational versus medical model in determining appropriate school based therapy services is needed. Proficiency in assessing children with a variety of disabilities is required. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary, as well as good oral and written communication skills are essential. Collaborative skills working with parents, staff, and community agencies is also essential. Candidate in this position will receive an $86.06/month travel stipend.
