Overview: The Athletics Office consists of two Directors of Athletics that work collaboratively to provide each enrolled student an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, knowledge and understanding of the pleasure of sport and the principles of fair play. The two Directors of Athletics are leaders that promote the opportunity for student growth and development in our four core values of character, faith, knowledge and responsibility.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Skills/Qualifications: * A master’s degree is required; graduate credits in administration or a related area is desired * Exceptional people skills * Five years of overseeing a multi-level sports program with evidence of leadership experience * Administrative, counseling and/or teaching experience * Team-oriented * Excellent communication skills, a learner *Highly effective leadership and management skills *Excellent organizational skills *A deep appreciation for the Catholic spiritual and intellectual traditions * Previous experience working in a Catholic school setting is preferred * Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a high level of accountability * Prior successful administrative experience preferred * High understanding of sports, CIF rules, regulations and standards * Familiarity with restorative practices Who You Are: * A practicing Catholic or a person that can embrace a leadership position within a faith-filled environment * Exceptional emotional intelligence. What You Will Do:
* Organize and administer the overall program of extracurricular athletics, both intramural and interscholastic, in cooperation with the Athletics Office team;
* Assist in the recruitment, selection, recommendation and supervision of interscholastic sports coaches
* Assure all coaches have completed pre-employment competencies (contracts, hiring expectations, etc.)
* Serve as the school liaison with the California Interscholastic Federation
* Serves as the school liaison with the City Conference
* Provide leadership in the selection, assignment and evaluation of athletic coaches
* Attend games throughout each season to support players and coaches
* Foster good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program
* Create an athletic program that promotes character development, wellness, and healthy competition
* Responsible for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events
* Responsible for game management including: security, supervision, scorer’s table and general set up of facilities
* Arrange for officials, team physicians and policemen as required and assume general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games
* Arrange transportation for athletic contest participation as necessary
* Develop and place into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities
* Assume responsibility for verifying each athlete's eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport (as determined by CCHS)
* Prepare and administer the athletic program budget and ensure coaches are working within budget parameters
* Arrange field and gym practice schedules
* Plan and supervise an annual recognition program for school athletes
* Acquire program supplies and equipment
* Lead or support restorative circles/conversations
* Be prepared to be involved with the various aspects of the Dons community (e.g., Open House, Placement Test, graduation activities)
* Provide direction and oversight for game schedules, tournaments, summer sports camps, transportation, assignment of officials, athletic clearance, final team rosters, and awards programs.
* Plan, organize, coordinate and implement parent athletic information nights
* Provide game schedules, game results and statistics to the media and post athletics-related content on CCHS social media
* Abide by the guidelines stated in the employee handbook and be consistent in applying the policies of the school as stated in the student handbook and curriculum guide
