Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent in the Educational Services division, maintains operational responsibility for updating, implementing, and coordinating of the Consortium Local Plan for Special Education. Serves as Secretary to the Superintendents’ Executive Council, and assists the chairperson to establish agendas, schedule meetings, and record minutes of the meetings. Serves as chairperson of the Special Education Administrators Committee (SEAC) and assists SEAC members to implement each LEA’s responsibility under the Local Plan. Supervises the implementation of Consortium personnel development programs, including training for member district administrators, staff, parents, and members of the Community Advisory Committee. Develops proposals, new programs, budgets and grant opportunities for the purposes of ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and meeting the Kern County Superintendent of Schools and the Consortium’s goals. Serves as SELPA liaison to agencies and organizations. This position is based in Bakersfield, CA.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Credentials: • Possess or be eligible for a California Administrative credential. • Possess a Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university Experience: • Successful experience as a teacher, specialist and/or administrator in the field of special education. • Successful experience related to staff management, program development and budget preparation. Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver’s license and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
