SKAMANIA SCHOOL DISTRICT (WA) Invites applications for the position of SUPERINTENDENT/PRINCIPAL (0.8 to 1.0 FTE) Location: Skamania, WA Enrollment: 70 students Grades: K-8 Closing date: Apr. 11, 2022 Employment begins: July 1, 2022 The Skamania School District Board of Directors is seeking applicants for the position of Superintendent/Principal to begin employment on July 1, 2022. The School Board anticipates offering a competitive compensation package depending on experience and education. The position will be 0.8 to 1.0 FTE to be negotiated with the selected candidate. The Superintendent/Principal will serve as the educational leader and chief executive of the school, and, as such, be responsible for promoting the educational development of each student and the professional growth and performance of the staff, operation of the school facilities, and establishment of effective parent and community relations. Essential Position Requirements: The Board requires the Superintendent/Principal be a strong educational leader who has the following professional experience and training: • Master’s degree in education or related field • A current Washington administrative license to serve as Principal or eligibility to obtain one • Successful experience as an educational leader and administrator • In lieu of experience and training requirements above, the Board may consider as a candidate for the position an individual who otherwise meets the administrator leadership skills;

The mission of the School is to provide opportunities which prepare students in becoming responsible decision makers, lifelong learners, and caring, contributing members of society. With a highly trained staff of 9 licensed, 6 classified and one administrator, the School has found a natural focus on STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. In its up-to-date facilities, Skamania School has small class sizes and provides music and arts instruction in all grades. Students work on real-world problems in their own backyard. Classroom and school wide project-based learning activities provide integrated, career-connected, locally relevant and field-focused opportunities. In 2018 the School was recognized by the State of Washington for its innovative practices and its ability to inspire students to study STEM naming Skamania School a STEM Lighthouse school and awarding a $20,000 grant, one of only six in the entire state. The School is in the process of transforming its 38 acre Woodward Creek property into an outdoor learning lab.
