La Cañada Unified has a vacancy for an elementary physical education/adapted physical education teacher in the 2022-23 school year. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE or 1.00%) that is tenure track at Palm Crest Elementary School. Ideally, the teacher will already hold the adapted physical education authorization, but LCUSD is willing to consider candidates who are in the process or starting the process to obtain the adapted physical education authorization.

Requirements / Qualifications

Salary: Placement on the certificated salary schedule is dependent on education and years of employment in a public school district. No cap on years for public school experience. The starting annual salary range for a fully credentialed teacher is $58,205 to $111,841, corresponding to $5,291.36 to $10,167.37 per month. Teachers are paid over 11 months, August through June. Benefits: This position is eligible to participate in the District’s medical benefit plans. Currently the District’s maximum contribution to an employee’s benefits package is $15,930 per year. Signing Bonus: If a newly hired teacher signs a contract with the District before May 31, the District will offer a signing bonus as follows: $3,000 on the first day of paid service based on the 2022-23 work calendar; $1,000 on the first day of paid service based on the 2023-24 work calendar; and $2,000 on the first day of paid service based on the 2024-25 work calendar and permanent status has been granted. If a new employee leaves the District prior to being granted permanent status, the remainder of the installments will be forfeited and not paid to the individual. If a newly hired teacher signs a contract with the District on or after May 31, but no later than July 1, 2022, the District will offer a signing bonus as follows: $1,500 on the first day of paid service based on the 2022-23 work calendar; $1,000 on the first day of paid service based on the 2023-24 work calendar; and $2,000 on the first day of paid service based on the 2024-25 work calendar and permanent status has been granted. If a new employee leaves the District prior to being granted permanent status, the remainder of the installments will be forfeited and not paid to the individual.

Credential: Valid California Single Subject Credential in Physical Education, including a certification to teach English Language Learner students and a certification for Adapted Physical Education. Will consider candidates without the Adapted PE authorization if they are enrolled, or agree to enroll immediately in an Adapted PE credentialing program. 2.
