Brief Description: The job of Attendance/Health Clerk is done for the purpose/s of providing accurate accounting of student enrollment and attendance to school site administration in accordance with the provisions of the California Education Code. Provides support in meeting the health need of students; documenting and maintaining student health information required by Federal/State/Local agencies; and providing appropriate care and/or referral for ill, medically fragile and/or injured students as may be required. CLASSIFIED POSITION: • Castle Rock Elementary School -Grades 3-5 • Salary: Range 10 ($17.00-$19.00 per hour - placement dependent upon like experience) • Annual Number of Work Days: 8 hours per day/196 days per year • Time: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (1 hour lunch) • 2021/2022 School Year

Requirements / Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; • Passing score on District Proficiency Test (will not be required if applicant has at least 48 college units or an Associate degree or higher – must submit college transcripts as proof) and District Computer Test; • Valid CPR/First Aid Certification or willing to obtain if hired; • Effective computer, communication, and organizational skills; • Ability to fulfill essential job functions noted in position description; • Possess effective ability to work collaboratively and provide professional/courteous customer service in all contacts and interactions; • Spanish speaking required; • Job description is attached to this flyer.

POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Attendance Clerk/Heath Clerk Job Summary: The job of Attendance/Health Clerk is done for the purpose/s of providing accurate accounting of student enrollment and attendance to school site administration in accordance with the provisions of the California Education Code. Provides support in meeting the health need of students; documenting and maintaining student health information required by Federal/State/Local agencies; and providing appropriate care and/or referral for ill, medically fragile and/or injured students as may be required. Essential Functions: • Assist in accounting for daily attendance of students; processing and verifying student absence information from parents and teachers; • Assists in entering attendance, data enrollment and change of status information into computer; verifying absences for each period in a middle and secondary school setting; • Assist in maintaining accurate records of student attendance; • Communicate as assigned with students, parents, faculty, administrators and authorities regarding attendance, truancy, and suspension; make and receives phone calls and notes regarding student absences; receives and relays messages to students and parents as necessary; receive phone calls from concerned parents; • Administers first aid, medication and specialized treatment under direction for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured children; • Assists nurse for the purpose of providing health screening, training, etc.; • Compiles data for reports (e.g. mandated monthly status reports, logs, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information; • Prepares documentation (e.g. medical emergency cards, inventory supplies, orders, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information; • Refers students requiring further medical attention for the purpose of providing additional information to the nurse; • Responds to inquiries of staff, the public, parents and/or students for the purpose of providing information and/or direction as may be required; • Supports principal, assistant principal, and/or other school administrative personnel for the purpose of providing assistance with their administrative functions. Other Functions: • Assist students, staff, and visitors at counter as necessary; • Administers first aid and medication to students for the purpose of meeting their immediate health care needs in the absence of the health clerk; • Assists other personnel as assigned and as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities; • Handles funds for the purpose of processing student fees, sale of products, etc.; • Supervises student workers for the purpose of monitoring students referred for disciplinary actions. • Assists other personnel as assigned and as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities: • Skills to: • operate standard office equipment including use of basic computer applications; • use English in both written and verbal form; • use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation; • administer first aid. • Knowledge of: • rules and regulations related to assigned school; • basic budgeting; • financial and statistical record keeping; • standard office equipment. • Abilities to: • sit for prolonged periods; • work independently; • understand and carry out oral and written instructions; • interact with persons of different age groups and cultural backgrounds.
