Instructors in the Center EdX Teacher Credential Programs (Early Childhood Permit and Education Specialists Mild-Moderate) teach at least one 10 week course throughout the year. Following the application and interview process, instructors will be selected by the Las Virgenes Unified School District. The Early Childhood Teacher Certificate Program is a one-year program designed for: Aspiring school teachers who want to teach in a Transitional Kindergarten setting, OR Existing permit holders who want to obtain their 105 units of Professional Growth hours required for five year renewal, OR Aspiring preschool teachers. Program Goals: - Develop a clear understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for students in an early childhood setting. Identify best practices for developmentally-appropriate pedagogy and learning. - Develop a comprehensive understanding of legal requirements for students with disabilities. - Provide field experiences that develop skills associated with effective teaching in early childhood settings.
