Education Coordinator Job Description Background: Hickman Charter School (HCS) is a TK-8th "university model," which blends the best of study at home with on-site classes and online programs. In 1994, HCS was created in response to parents who were looking for high-quality individualized options for their children, and teachers who recognized that the traditional system does not meet the needs of all children. At HCS, students are instructed by their parents at home with the support of an Education Coordinator and the many resources available through Hickman Charter School. Hickman Charter School is located in East Stanislaus County's rural community of Hickman, California. In addition to the main campus, HCS has resource centers in Alameda County. Please visit: http://hcs.hickmanschools.org/ for further information about our program General Description: An Education Coordinator (EC) at Hickman Charter School is: A credentialed teacher who serves homeschool students and families A consultant and coach to the parent-educator and student to design and monitor educational goals aligned to California academic standards A member of a creative teaching team that plans and implements high-quality instruction delivered through classes (both virtual and on-site) provided by HCS Experienced with a broad range of K-8 curriculum and instructional options suitable to the independent study student in a homeschool setting One who thinks beyond the four walls of the classroom space when constructing educational plans A cooperative member of a collaborative team willing to tackle any job needed to advance the educational mission of Hickman Charter School Qualifications Current California Teaching Credential Previous teaching experience preferred Previous independent study or homeschool experience preferred Duties and Responsibilities Collaborates with students and parent educators to plan, develop, and organize a comprehensive edu
