Cupertino may grant up to fourteen (14) years of verified, full-time experience for placement on the salary schedule. Annual Stipend of $1,000 for all Special Education Teachers. Annual bonus of $2,020 for up to two (2) advanced degrees (Masters/Doctorate). Additional annual bonus of $2,020 for National Board Certification. All new special education teachers to CUSD will have the opportunity to sign up to participate in 100 hours of professional development in the 2022-23 school year. Participants will have a choice of being paid $5,000 (1/2 paid in Sept. and 1/2 paid in June) or apply the hours to course credit on the salary schedule. This course will begin with 35 hours offered August 3rd to 9th, 2022 and will be followed by monthly PD that will sometimes be direct instruction and sometimes self directed review of recorded district PD plus a reflection task. Participation in this course will lead to each new teacher having knowledge of CUSD intervention curriculum, a clear understanding of CUSD procedures as aligned to education law and expertise in best practices in special education. Middle School SAI teachers: The district teacher contract requires a cap of 22 students instead of 28, and have 2 Instructional Assistants (IAs). Elementary School RSP teachers: The district maintains an average of no more than 22 students in resource programs across the district, and each site has one Instructional Assistant (IA) dedicated to the resource program.
