Under administrative direction, perform journey-level electrical and specialized work involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, and alterations of various District electrical systems. Design, install, repair and maintain electrical receptacles, switches, controls and lighting systems; inspect and troubleshoot electrical systems, motors, controls, and wiring; install and maintain power distribution, transformers, circuit breaker systems, electrical panel boards and emergency lighting systems; maintain and repair fire alarms, security alarms, master clock and bell systems and a variety of other mechanical and electrical equipment and systems; install and maintain shop machinery and power tools; estimate costs and order parts, supplies and equipment for electrical projects; maintain related records; operate a variety of electrical tools and equipment; drive a vehicle to assigned sites to conduct work; and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education/Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and four years of varied experience in one or more of the building trades. Knowledge/ Abilities: Knowledge of the materials, tools, and methods used in the repair and maintenance of buildings and related equipment; safe working methods and procedures. The successful candidate will also have the ability to repair and maintain buildings, related structural facilities and furnishings; operate a variety of tools and equipment related to the various construction trades; and the ability to supervise others. Licenses/Other: A valid California driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the District for insurance purposes.
