Type of Assignment:
Position Available: MiraCosta College’s Nursing department invites applications for one equity-minded, full-time (10 months per year), tenure-track faculty position beginning in August 2022. While this position will be both instructional and non-instructional, approximately 80% of this position’s principle responsibilities will be maintaining and supporting the daily operation of the nursing skills, simulation, and other activities conducted in the nursing laboratory. The person selected will share leadership roles with other full-time instructors in coordinating and developing curriculum and using culturally-responsive pedagogical techniques.

Compensation: Initial salary placement is based on education and experience and ranges from $79,588 (class I, step 1) to $133,238 (class VI-doctorate, step 10) on the 2022-2023 Annual Salary Schedule. Benefits:

Faculty members are also covered under the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS).
Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following State and California Board of Registered Nursing minimum qualifications:
1. a master’s degree in nursing (the transcripts you are attaching must show that the degree was awarded); AND
2. a current, active California license as a Registered Nurse; AND
3. at least one (1) year of experience teaching courses related to registered nursing OR have completed a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing; AND
4. at least one (1) year of continuous, full-time experience within the last five (5) years in a direct patient care practice as a registered nurse OR already be approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing as a clinical instructor; AND
5. demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
