MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education &Training: Completion of at least two years of study (48 semester units or 60 quarter units) at an institution of higher education; or Associate of Arts degree or higher; or proof of passing an assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics. Applicants must provide proof of completion of college level coursework in computer technology or related programs. Experience: One year of work experience in computer hardware and software or related technology.

TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in the effective instruction of students and reinforce lessons in computer technology programs in a classroom, laboratory or learning center; perform a variety of instructional and clerical duties; perform related duties as assigned.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Prepare and organize instructional activities and materials relating to computer technology, or the utilization of computers.
Assist in developing lesson plan, materials and activities for the preparation and delivery of computer technology instructional materials.
Participate in the effective instruction of students by such activities as tutor students individually or in groups, lead and facilitate group discussions, class projects, or related activities.
Oversee and direct activities of students in a classroom, laboratory, or learning center.
Inform teachers or specialist of student progress and/or related issues; observe and record information about student behavior, achievement level, and other significant pupil related data.
Communicate with District staff, parents and others to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns; initiate and receive telephone calls as needed.
Instruct students in the use of a variety of technology equipment and software.
Review and score student work assignments or tests.
Perform basic troubleshooting of technology equipment and software.
Perform related classroom support activities such as taking attendance, maintaining records, conducting inventories, typing, operating photo copy equipment, preparing reports, schedules, filling out forms, passing out textbooks or materials, etc.
Monitor or direct the activities of other classroom support personnel such as tutors, aides, volunteers, student assistants, etc.
Provide in-service training to other staff within subject matter area of expertise.
May make presentations to groups such as parents or community assemblies to explain program goals, objectives, or activities.
Remain abreast of developments within subject matter area of expertise.
OTHER DUTIES:

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Technology Instructional Assistants are programmatic in function rather than in a teacher-classroom orientation. They actively participate in the delivery of educational technology and applies a thorough knowledge of computer and related technology programs presenting lessons to the students and others.

Lift and move computers, printers, or related equipment and supplies.
