SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under direction of the teacher, assists in carrying out educational plans for individual students. Performs a variety of routine tasks to assist and care for children assigned to school programs. Interprets and translates as needed. This position is included in the classified bargaining unit and is subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership, payment of like fee, or donation to recognized charity. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/TRAINING: High school diploma or recognized equivalent. College coursework in general education, child development or special education (preferred). EXPERIENCE: Six months to one year of paid or volunteer experience working with infants and/or preschoolers. Experience working with special needs children preferred. CREDENTIALS AND/OR SKILLS: Bilingual in Spanish, the language of the children being served. New employees must pass proficiency test. View attached job description for complete details.
