Requirements / Qualifications
SCUSD is a large, diverse school district serving around 41,000 students in 77 schools. The Child Development Director supports 47 classrooms in 37 district schools, serving preschool and school age children. With a focus on improving outcomes for students, SCUSD’s new Child Development Director will be required to work with all stakeholders, including teachers, school site and district administrators, and parents to continue to work to transition this stand alone program into a program that is fully integrated into the TK-6 learning progression while supporting the current preschool programs. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of funding rules and regulations as well as the ability to maximize supports from multiple funding streams. The SCUSD guiding principle is that “All students are given an equal opportunity to graduate, with the greatest number of post-secondary choices from the widest array of options” and we acknowledge this begins with early learning. SCUSD is looking to hire an instructional leader who will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to bring the guiding principle to life. The ideal candidate will recognize that our system is inequitable by design and will vigilantly work to confront and interrupt inequities that exist to level the playing field and provide opportunities for everyone to learn, grow and reach their greatness. Elementary school site administration is preferred as well as expertise in student data analysis.
TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: master’s degree with a major in early childhood education, parent education, or a related field, and five years management experience including five years in early childhood education. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver’s license, provide personal automobile, Administrative Services Credential.
