Requirements / Qualifications
The Vacancy: This recruitment will also be used to fill future vacancies, and temporary/substitute positions in this classification for up to six months. The Position: Under general supervision, to perform a wide variety of general clerical, receptionist, typing, recordkeeping, and student service functions at a District elementary school; and to do related work as required. Acts as receptionist, answering telephone, and giving information and assistance to students, faculty, and the general public; does a wide variety of clerical work including typing, proofreading, filing, checking, and recording information on records; assist in enrollment of students; prepare, post, and file personnel records; type letters, memorandums, book lists, bulletins or other material from oral direction, rough draft, copy, notes or transcribing machine recordings; prepare offset and ditto masters and mimeograph stencils; collect and account for moneys received; operate adding machine, duplicating machines, and other office appliances; assist in scheduling reservations for use of school facilities; sort and file documents and records according to predetermined classifications, maintaining alphabetical, index, and cross-reference files; perform arithmetical calculations; mail out letters, forms, and applications; receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail; assist in making out forms; prepare simple statistical reports; assign and keep records on building keys; assign and maintain records on lockers; maintain textbook records; requisition materials and supplies; maintain budget records; submit work orders to Maintenance Department.
Required Qualifications: One year of general clerical and recordkeeping experience, preferably involving substantial public contact; knowledge of modern office methods and equipment, including the preparation of business correspondence; filing and standard office equipment operations; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; arithmetic; basic methods, policies, and procedures of the assigned work area; type at the rate of 45 net words per minute. Selection Procedure: The selection process will consist of a written exam and a qualifications appraisal interview each weighted 50%.
