Summary Working independently with guidance from the program coordinator, duties shall include a variety of activities that support developing students’ career awareness, i.e., developing job training programs, helping students assess their aptitudes and skills, and guiding students in exploring interests and career options. Required License/Certification Valid California driver’s license Possess or able to attain Highly Quality status as per No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Experience and Education High School diploma or equivalent AA degree, or 48 college hours or units, or pass test of math, language arts and ability to assist per NCLB regulations Basic computer skills Any combination of successful qualifying experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and skills. A typical way to meet this requirement would be one year paid or volunteer experience working with at risk children of various ages, preferably adolescents, in a learning environment Training or coursework in adolescent growth and development, career development and/or counseling, job training Bilingual in English and Spanish desired Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of: Required Appropriate English usage, punctuation, spelling, and grammar Basic mathematical concepts Ability to maintain confidentiality Basic computer skills Desired Knowledge of the community Ability to Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults Function as a productive team member and interact positively with staff members and parents Maintain confidentiality of information pertaining to students and their families Respect and show appropriate consideration for age, gender, cultural/linguistic background related factors when providing services Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward all students Appropriately manage student behavior and promote acceptable social behaviors
