QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Valid fingerprint Clearance Card for State of Arizona Valid State of Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate Minimum of five years’ experience in Special Education Master’s Degree in related area, Preferred Current Principal or Supervisory Certificate (Preferred) Knowledgeable / experienced with Individual Evaluation Plans and IDEA programs commensurate with Federal and Arizona State special education regulations Pre-K through 12th grade. Comments and Other Information

Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals. Manages a wide variety of Special Education program components (e.g. student support services, counseling and guidance, alternative school, health services, behavioral/health services, related parent education programs, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services which conform to established guidelines and regulations for Special Education students. Collaborates with internal and external personnel (e.g. other administrators, teachers, auditors, public agencies, community members, etc.) for the purpose of building relationships, implementing and/or maintaining assigned services and programs, serving as a resource to schools and other departments. Maintains services and implements new programs and/or processes for the purpose of providing services within established timeframes and in compliance with related requirements for the Special Education department. Facilitates meetings, workshops, seminars, etc. (e.g. due process hearings, district liaison, parent groups, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues, developing relationships and recommendations, supporting other staff, and serving as a District representative. Participates in a wide variety of meetings (e.g. board meetings, training, hearings, IEPs, etc.) for the purpose of providing and/or receiving information. Facilitates all transition meetings between Preschool, Elementary, Middle School and High School. Provides professional development for all Paraprofessionals assigned to Special Education programs. Participates in IPT Meetings as an expert when needed. Coordinates and facilitates out of District placements for Special Education students. Serves as a liaison for health office and counseling services for Special Education Students. Works at school sites supporting the Special Education student & teacher population in the classroom, providing classroom support, training and testing and any other duties for the classroom as assigned by the Director of Special Education. Provides compliance support including IEP PRO and files. Provides support for student management including observations, instructional strategies/feedback to the teacher and classroom support personnel, developing FBAs and other monitoring an support protocols. Meets with all private schools within district boundaries yearly and explains special education policies and procedures and how they relate to private schools. Provides training and assistance on writing service plans for all students who attend private schools within district boundaries. Prepares and submits all information for alternate AIMS (AIMS-A). Provides annual training and support for all teachers who proctor AIMS-A and/or other District, State or Federally-required student assessments. Manages all private day placement students and IEP’s for all students who are placed out of district. Provides training for, monitors and ensures that all Medicaid activities are completed and maximum reimbursement is received by the District.
