Requirements / Qualifications
The California Montessori Project is a public K-8 charter program using research-based Montessori pedagogy in providing academic choice for the greater Sacramento area, Elk Grove and Shingle Springs, CA. The instructional assistant assists the teacher in improving the quality of educational opportunities, supervision of students, and instructional tasks which, in the judgment of the teacher, may be performed by a non-credentialed employee. The work need not be performed in the presence of the teacher, but the teacher retains responsibility for instruction and supervision. Instructional Assistants work part-time, Monday through Friday, 20-28 hours per week, depending on the grade level assignment. Most assignments commonly scheduled from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm but this can vary depending on the campus and grade level assignment. As an hourly, part-time employee, no additional health and welfare benefits are provided. Candidates should have experience working with students in a classroom setting. Minimum qualifications for application: * High School diploma with 48 college units or AA degree or higher.. * Montessori training and/or experience desired, but not required. ATTENTION CREDENTIALED TEACHERS: Working as a Montessori teaching assistant is a great way to determine if the Montessori classroom is right for you before pursuing Montessori certification. CMP often hires certificated teachers in a classified capacity. All candidates must complete an on-line application. Required documents must be scanned and attached to the Ed-join application.
