ELEANOR ROOSEVELT COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER JOB DESCRIPTION EDUCATION COORDINATOR This is a certificated, full-time position with benefits, 180 days per year (All positions at ERCLC are At-Will employment with no tenure) ERCLC is a Public Charter School authorized by Tulare County Office of Education 2022-23 Position is for a Single Subject High School EC (Life Science, Chemistry, or CTE) Responsibilities Include: Credentialed teachers at ERCLC are called Education Coordinators (hereafter referred to as “EC”) to differentiate them from the parents, who are their child’s teacher. Each EC must hold a valid California teaching credential. EC’s assigned to students in grades K-8 should hold a multiple subjects credential; EC’s assigned to students in grades 7-12 must hold a single-subject credential. The EC’s with single subject credentials work collaboratively as a team to cover core areas. Every teaching position has a unique mix of responsibilities in the areas of personal specialty, credentialing, and leading enrichment in multiple areas and age groups, while also supporting individual students. Each EC serves in a few major capacities: as the “teacher of record” for individually assigned students as a curriculum consultant and coach for the homeschool parent as an enrichment facilitator High School – teaching classes and supporting the student Teacher of Record The EC is responsible for the overall supervision of the education and instruction of each student assigned to them. This includes: Scheduling an initial meeting with the parent(s) of each student to plan an appropriate educational plan for the student. Scheduling regular progress meetings with parents at least once every 20 days, but more often as needed. Meetings should include guidance and parent support for a robust learning plan. EC’s are responsible for communicating with administration in a timely manner regarding non-compliant parents through the board required process. Work collaboratively with parents to plan instruction and provide curriculum and educational resources appropriate to each child’s instructional program. This includes informing, educating and coaching parents regarding the California grade level standards for their child’s grade level/subject matter. Elementary ECs should be curriculum experts in multiple areas, but especially mathematics and language arts including reading. EC’s supervising students in grades 7-12 are also responsible for ensuring students are attending all appropriate classes or working independently, successfully, in all required core courses. ECs evaluate and document completed student work. ECs collect representative samples of the student’s work, verify an appropriate amount of work completed and assign time value to the work for attendance reporting purposes. As all students work in “their way, in their time,” the EC is responsible for ensuring that every student makes adequate progress towards learning goals and/or create a SST or intervention plan for those not showing increasing personal academic growth towards learning goals. Continuously monitor student achievement and make recommendations for interventions, change of curriculum, or other mandates as needed. Seek and identify students with special needs. Act as the liaison for the parent to access all additional supports necessary, not limited to 504s, SSTs, or other specific services. Monitor the number of textbooks/curriculum resources in textbook area for the assigned grade, level/subject area and submit purchase requests when items need to be replenished. Collect materials when finished. Manage state and local assessments, including creating collaborative personal student success reports at minimum annually. Curriculum Consultant Each Education Coordinator serves as a curriculum consultant for specific grade levels (if a holder of multiple subjects’ credential) or a specific subject area (if a holder of a single subject credential.) Have a thorough knowledge of the California Grade Level Standards for the assigned grade level/subject areas. Seek and identify curriculum and learning activities that correspond to the grade level standards for the assigned grade level(s)/subject matter area. Plan and instruct enrichment classes as assigned. Identify and plan field trips for the assigned grade level/subject areas. Additional Duties Lead as a positive, caring, and supportive team member to both staff and students. Help build and contribute to a healthy kind learning environment. Be solution oriented and student driven. Do not participate in gossip, blame, or negative actions on or off campus. Student supervision as assigned. (Lunch duty, etc.) Attend all staff meetings and grade level meetings. Check phone and emails daily. (Respond within 24 hours) Plan and attend special events such as parent orientation meetings, parent potlucks, end-of-the-semester showcase, student talent shows, and graduation ceremonies. Read and be aware of information sent to parents in the monthly parent newsletter and other messages. Attend education conferences and in-services as assigned. Continue to grow and learn as a professional as a collaborative part of the team. Follow all school deadlines, procedures and protocols, including mandatory reporting. Submit attendance reports, student grades, semester files, and other required paperwork by their due dates. EC’s are responsible for communicating with administration if there are extenuating circumstances that prohibit submitting requested paperwork within the allotted time frame. Be a collaborative team member sharing team responsibilities. Be organized, attentive to detail, and responsive. Additional duties as assigned and reports to Superintendent *EC positions pay in to STRS retirement and full-time positions are benefited through SISC Anthem Blue Cross
