About the Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Coordinator, Migrant Education Program (MEP), the teacher provides and assists in the coordination and implementation of instruction and the development of supplemental programs for students in the MEP for both elementary and secondary settings; serves as a liaison/resource for administrators and instructional personnel in developing strategies, enrichment activities, and interventions for migrant students and their families; provides assessments; assists and counsel students; and collaborates with the educational community. This position is included in the certificated bargaining unit and is subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership. 2 positions for Multiple Subject (K8) 1 position for Single Subject (9-12)

Minimum Qualifications: EDUCATION AND TRAINING: BA/BS Degree EXPERIENCE: 3 years of teaching experience in a Migrant Education setting or 5 years classroom teaching experience in an elementary and/or secondary setting. CREDENTIALS AND/OR SKILLS: Valid California teaching credential authorizing instruction of students (as appropriate for the specific assignment). Read, speak, translate and/or write in a designated second language (Spanish). Knowledgeable in the use of personal computers. Valid CA driver’s license and minimum amount of liability insurance required by law. DMV Driver Record printout required. This position is included in the certificated bargaining unit and is subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership. View attached job description for complete details.
