BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Chief Business Official, the Director of Technology Services will administer and set the vision and course for the District Technology Operations, including overseeing the following departments and system: Research and Evaluation Department, Information Technology Department, and Audio / Visual Media Department; provide expertise regarding all information systems; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

- Coordinate, communicate and provide information to administrators, other employees and the public regarding the development of District policies, standards and plans for the uses of computers, student information systems, telecommunications, multimedia services and other technology for academic, educational support and administrative purposes; interpret and explain District rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to technology.
- Plan, organize, administer and direct the Technological Services Division of the District to assure efficient and cost-effective and modern operations, leveraging the use of current technology.
- Plan, develop and direct the implementation of administrative procedures and division policies, Board Agenda reports and organization or operational changes.
- Develop and direct the preparation and distribution of manuals, guidelines and procedures.
- Prepare and administer the Technology Services Division budget.
- Direct the preparation of the Technology Services Division strategic operational plan.
- Interpret, apply and assure compliance with federal, State, County and city statues, laws, codes, regulations and legal requirements, relating to technology services in a public California K-12 school district.
- Assure the proper preparation and maintenance of accurate records to technology services;
- Assure accurate completion and timely submission of federal, State, County, and District reports.
- Represent the District as needed at conferences, conventions and in the community.
- Engage a broad network of internal and external business and community partners, to promote student achievement as related to technology and the technological security and modernization of the District, including reviewing vendor and potential vender credentials for appropriate business ventures.
- Establish and enforce standards and expectations of performance for assigned staff; supervise, coordinate, train, provide work direction, and guidance to assigned staff, including planning, delegating, distributing, prioritizing, reviewing work; counsels and evaluates assigned staff.
- Administer the federal E-Rate funding program.
- Write and assist in writing proposals to fund technology projects.
- Attends and participate in meetings, including Board meetings, and trainings, as required, which may occur beyond the normal work day.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
INITIAL/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a field related to information technology is required. A Master's Degree in a field related to information technology is desirable.
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible technology experience.
