Moreland serves Preschool-8th grade students across three cities in Santa Clara County. Our teachers educate approximately 3,800 students in four elementary schools, two TK-8 schools and one middle school. Teachers are provided regular preparation time, collaboration time, and professional development. Students are offered a wide variety of programs to support their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Job Summary

The intervention teacher works with 4th and 5th grade students Monday through Friday 6 hours per day, 180 days per year at Easterbrook Discovery School. Applications will be accepted for candidates who would prefer to work 4 hours per day.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Support the teacher with the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum.
  2. Provide academic intervention services to students in the K-8 classroom.
  3. Assists with the development and use instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with wide range of mental, physical and emotional maturity.
  4. Support push-in services, small group and/or pull-out instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.
  5. Collaborate with the teacher to establish and maintain standards of student control required to achieve effective participation in all activities.
  6. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning problems.
  7. Communicate with teachers and parents through a variety of means.
  8. Establish a safe and effective learning environment.
  9. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or professional growth activities and university courses.
  10. Perform basic attendance and classroom accounting.
  11. Stimulate in students the development of positive self image, personal responsibility, and pride.
  12. May participate in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
  13. Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  1. Valid California Credential.
  2. Bachelor’s degree including all courses to meet credential requirements.
  3. Successful student teaching, internship, or full-time teaching experience.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  3. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  4. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
  5. Effectively interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
