Compass Charter Schools (CCS) Paraprofessional is a qualified member of the Options Learning Team. Under the direction of the Director of Options Learning, the Paraprofessional will work collaboratively to strengthen the performance of CCS. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide support in the day-to-day operations at the learning center, including scholar supervision, special events, and learning center cleaning and maintenance. Participate in and support department and scholar recruitment/retention initiatives, scholar engagement experiences, and school-wide events as needed. Assist others as needed in meeting department and organizational goals. Attend professional development trainings. Skills: Excellent communication Strong work ethic Ability to work collegially with others in the organization Creative problem-solver Proficient in Google Apps and Microsoft Office Suite Requirements: High school graduate or above Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience Must be able to travel throughout the State of California for school-related activities Physical Demands: Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the needs of scholars, learning coaches (parents), and staff. Work Environment: This position is based out of the Compass Charters Learning center in Santa Ana California. As the safety, adequacy, and functionality of the Learning Center is key, approval must be provided to work from another location. May be required to also work from the Central Office or other Compass location. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the needs of scholars, learning coaches (parents), and staff. These are the essential requirements to serve in the Paraprofessional role:
- Any combination of training/education, and experience equivalent to a high school degree.
- 1 + Years of similar experience in comparable private and/or non-profit sector experience, or related school operations.
- Familiarity with child behavior.
- Experience in helping teachers in a classroom environment desired.
- Good understanding of the public educational system.
- Experience working with blended, online, personalized, and/or virtual learning schools preferred.
- Experience in digital engagement: computer & software skills. (ie Google Suite and Microsoft), social media literacy (ie Twitter, Google Classroom, website navigation), information & communication (email, intranets), web & mobile applications, interpersonal & social networking skills, and student/school systems (ie student information system, digital courseware, online learning platforms).
Example duties for the Paraprofessional may include:
- Supervises scholars before and after class, during recess, snack , and lunchtime.
- Provides support in the day-to-day operations at the Learning Center, assisting classroom teacher(s) in scholar supervision special events and learning center clean up and maintenance.
- Assists in organizing and completing Learning Center projects.
- Monitors and records evidence of children's learning and progress.
- Assists the teacher(s) in preparing materials and teaching aids, such as bulletin boards, displays, and class materials.
- Operates equipment for direct instructional tasks, including copying, collating, distributing, and/or grouping materials for teacher-planned, instructional activities.
- Assists in assessing student progress as directed, proctoring the administration of tests, marking papers, and maintaining confidential records as needed.
- Determines campus safety risks effectively.
Work Environment:
This position is based out of the Orange County Learning Center in Santa Ana. May be required to also work from the Central Office, Learning Center, or other Compass location as directed by supervisor or the Superintendent & CEO. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the needs of scholars, Learning Coaches (parents), and staff. Must be able to travel throughout the State of California for school-related activities. Note - you will be required to notify HR if any work will be performed in San Francisco or out of state for any period of time for review and pre-approval.
