Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   

Primary Functions: Under general supervision, participate in the preparation of food and related duties.

Performance Responsibilities
* Prepare, package, serve, and store all food for students and staff
* Collect payments, maintain records and reports for school meal programs
* Supervise student workers
* Account for food used daily in meal preparation and foods to and from the freezer and refrigerator
* Estimate needed quantities and assist in ordering, receiving and inspecting food and supplies.
* Clean kitchen, equipment, eating utensils, storage rooms and related work
* Maintain standards of efficiency and sanitation in food preparation
* Cooperate with all staff and other groups in the use of cafeteria facilities and equipment for special events
* Perform all other duties as assigned

Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of: Methods of preparing foods; state mandated program requirements; proper use of equipment and utensils; sanitation and safety measures; First Aid and CPR training; basic computer skills.

Abilities:
Understand and follow oral and written directions; communicate effectively; perform basic mathematical calculations; complete assignments independently; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relations with children and adults.

ADA Requirement: Must have the ability to sit, stand for extended periods of time, walk, frequently lift objects weighing approximately 10 lbs. (pots, pans, baking equipment, etc.), occasionally lift objects weighing approximately 50 lbs. ( i.e., cases of food, bag of flour, stack of dishes, etc.), push, pull, reach, twist, drag, and grasp objects.

Experience:
Previous food service experience desired.

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass standard proficiency test of basic knowledge.
