Job Summary

Under the supervision and evaluation of the site principal, the School Counselor provides educational and behavioral counseling to individuals and small groups of students; assists students in establishing appropriate educational and career goals by providing guidance and counseling services in matters pertaining to opportunities available to them; and helps students to understand and develop solutions to academic, social and emotional challenges and issues. The specific areas of oversight will include Counseling, Student Support and Discipline, and other Student Support Services. The School Counselor works closely with staff, parents and community resources in choosing curricular experiences which will help the students in decision-making processes to achieve academic success and help students plan for the future. The Counselor is integral in planning and assisting with the college tours, application workshops, and guiding students through the application process. The Counselor is also responsible for the administration of the PSAT, on-site SAT, and AP Testing.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling • Experience working with a comprehensive High School strongly desired • Fingerprint and tuberculosis clearances as required by law • Knowledge of AERIES Student Information System • Knowledge of Master Scheduling
