Job Summary

Prepare students to achieve their high school equivalency GED Diploma. Class times are Monday through Thursday evenings 6:30pm – 9:00pm (10 hours a week).

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid CA Teaching Credential. Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential w/Elementary and Secondary Basic Skills (ESBS) authorization, OR Multiple Subject Credential w/Math authorization OR Single Subject Credential with Math authorization. Desirable Experience: Experience teaching multi-subject or individualized high school curriculum. Knowledge of methods and strategies used to instruct students of differing learning styles. Ability to teach and motivate students from a diversity of socio-economic and socio-cultural backgrounds including some at risk and special needs students. Experience teaching English, Math, or Social Science preferred. Evidence of curriculum development in prior assignments. Experience in the use of computer assisted instruction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities; Responsible for teaching basic skills to students with varying academic levels while integrating GED skills, reading and math skills, social justice and community issues, and culture.
