Requirements / Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent. Must complete Personnel Specialist II assessment. 60 WPM typing speed required. Basic functions are: under general direction, to perform specialized technical work in the implementation of classified, certificated, confidential and management Human Resources programs; to do technical clerical work in recruitment and selection, credentialing, performance evaluations, compensation and benefits; to maintain comprehensive personnel records. This position performs technical personnel functions, as well as responsible personnel record keeping work and is further characterized by a high level of consequence of error manifested in the form of legal challenges and labor and public relation complaints. Incumbents may, from time to time, supervise the activities of temporary staff. Supervision received is continuing and guidance is readily available from written regulations, policy and law, as well as from Human Resources Supervisors and Administrators. Incumbents perform technical personnel staff work, which requires the incumbent to understand and interpret applicable policy, program guidelines and Education Code provisions, to apply technical concepts in identifying solutions to problems and to use initiative in resolving problems and completing assignments. Incumbents communicate authoritatively with District personnel and outside sources on behalf of the Department Administrator. Incumbents continuously deal with highly sensitive and privileged information where good judgment is required to use and release information. A high level of confidentiality is required.
